Hello old friends, and new ones too—

If you remember me from Shery K Designs, you may recall a time of color and creativity—digital patterns, textiles, scrapbook kits, and endless hours of artistic joy. That chapter of my life was deeply rooted in beauty, design, and storytelling through art.

But like many seasons in life, things change. My path shifted.

Motherhood didn’t just reshape my days—it quietly transformed me. It cracked me open, tested me, softened me, and then asked me to rebuild—stronger, wiser, and more whole.

And now, I’m here. With you again. Just in a new way.

đź’ Main Reflection

This newsletter is for the mothers, the caregivers, the quietly exhausted but deeply loving hearts raising young children—especially those who feel they’re doing it alone, or without a manual. I know that feeling well.

As a certified early childhood educator, a single mother of four, and someone who has lived through reinvention more than once, I want to offer you more than advice. I want to offer companionship. A place where reflection meets real life. Where science meets softness. Where we raise our children—and allow ourselves to grow in the process.

You’ll still see creativity in what I share—just expressed in new forms: discipline strategies, emotional support tools, reflections on raising neurodiverse children, and ideas to create environments that respect a child’s spirit.

Because at its core, parenting is creative work. And just like design, it asks for patience, experimentation, and love.

So whether you’re here for practical tips or poetic reminders that you’re not alone—you’re welcome here.

Thank you for letting me find my voice again, this time not in patterns and pixels—but in presence and purpose.

With warmth,
Shery

đź’ˇ Try This at Home

The 10-Minute “Special Time”

This week, try setting aside just 10 minutes a day for what child development experts call Special Time—undistracted, device-free one-on-one time with your child.

Let them choose the activity. It could be building with blocks, playing a game, drawing, or even just cuddling and chatting. The key is this: you follow their lead, and your full attention is the gift.

No teaching, no correcting, no multitasking. Just presence.

This tiny ritual can:

  • Reduce clinginess or acting out

  • Strengthen your bond

  • Help your child feel more seen and secure

Even 10 minutes a day makes a difference—especially when done consistently.

📚 Resource Corner

If you’ve ever wondered why your child melts down over the wrong color cup or how to help them manage big emotions, this book is a great start.

Written in clear, compassionate language, it explains how a child’s brain develops—and how we can respond in ways that actually build emotional intelligence rather than just stop the behavior.

It’s science-backed, but easy to understand. And best of all, it gives you real tools you can use right away.

🌱 Closing Thought

What part of your child’s behavior feels the hardest for you lately?

Before reacting to it—pause and ask yourself:
“What might they be needing underneath this?”

Sometimes the hardest moments are simply unspoken needs asking to be seen.
